Susie Barford first entered the millinery world in 2015 when a client of her marketing brand asked her to create hats for the Royal Enclosure at Ascot; the most famous event in the British race day calendar.

Susie has always had an interest in sculpture and making her own clothes. Being British, she has also always admired the hats worn by the Royal family at major events. This natural curiosity and a creative flair compelled her to learn how to make her own hats at the London College of Fashion and start her own business, Susie Barford Millinery.

Susie is now a member of the Royal Enclosure at Ascot Racecourse which gave further purpose to her creative pursuits. She absolutely loves to wear her own designs and also makes couture hats for clients going to special occasions and horse race events the world over. Susie makes fabulous Fedoras and straw hats as well as couture headbands and bridal pieces. She really enjoys working on her men’s millinery collection too.

Susie divides her time between her millinery studios in Georgetown, Washington, DC, Notting Hill, London and the Cotswolds, England.
