One Year Anniversary
I officially launched Susie Barford Millinery one year ago today with a celebration held at the Gramercy Tavern in New York... and what a year it has been! I’m so grateful to have had the opportunities that have come my way since launching myself into the millinery world and making my love of creating a daily event.
I’ve trained with the London College of Fashion, been invited to showcase my work in several high end publications, invited to host workshops that I’ll make a reality next year when it’s safe to do so, gained a loyal and enthusiastic following on IG, I’ve been made ‘Milliner in Residence’ for the Virginia Gold Cup, I’ve been commissioned by interesting clients to make some beautiful hats for The Kentucky Derby and Royal Ascot, I’ve been invited to host trunk shows and sell at local events in the USA and UK, and I’ve just been interviewed by a NY fashion blogger about my millinery business. I’ve pondered the idea of an Etsy business but decided to keep it small and focused very much on bespoke, couture items for the moment. I’m now about to embark on educating myself about Freeform as a millinery technique, so the journey never stops...
